Stone SWE has invested much time in determining how to best represent the stone industry in the green building arena. This is how we started this project.
Constructing buildings in an environmentally-considerate way requires careful thought and planning. However, the payback from a green building far outweighs this price. Conventional building practices consume large quantities of energy and water, while generating excessive air emissions and waste streams. A Passive House in comparison with conventional building are ecco friendly.
Why? And what is a Passive House?
A Passive House is a building standard that is truly energy efficient, comfortable, affordable and ecological at the same time. Passive House is not a brand name, but a construction concept that can be applied by anyone. Passive Houses are eco-friendly by definition: They use extremely little primary energy, leaving sufficient energy resources for all future generations without causing any environmental damage.
Why natural stone?
Natural stone is not at all inherently cold material. In fact it is a fantastic heat radiator which accumulates warmth for a long time. Thanks to natural stone’s thermal properties it is a perfect material which goes together with the philosophy of the Passive House.
